Social conditions influence health inequities
An individual's health status is largely determined by his or her socioeconomic position. In low-income countries the average life expectancy is 57, while in high-income countries, it is 80. At the World Conference on Social Determinants of Health, held in October 2011, representatives of over 100 countries worked on tackling the root causes of health inequities.
