Facilitating treatment to cure

TB patients often have a tough time completing their treatment regimen due to a range of factors such as length of treatment, side-effects, difficulty in accessing health facilities outside working hours, poverty and transportation costs. The WHO-CIDA initiative supports health workers such as Dlamini who visit patients on motorbikes if they do not come for treatment. “We often bring food for the patients and arrange transportation where possible. They are very happy to have us support them,” he explains.
