Tuberculosis control

In 2005, there were an estimated 8.8 million new tuberculosis (TB) cases globally. However, as a result of control programmes, the epidemic appears to be declining. According to WHO estimates, this brings the world closer to meeting Millennium Development Goal 6, which entails stopping the spread of major infectious diseases before 2015.
