Urine and stool samples can detect schistosomiasis

Urogenital schistosomiasis can be easily detected through the presence of blood in urine (haematuria).

Intestinal forms of schistosomiasis can cause abdominal pain, diarrhoea and blood in the stool, are diagnosed through examination of stool specimens.
