HIV/AIDS treatment
In June 2006, 1.65 million people living with HIV and AIDS had access to treatment, compared to 400 000 in December 2003. The International AIDS Conference in August emphasized the need to balance prevention with treatment and care. Also, results from clinical trials in Kenya, South Africa and Uganda indicate that circumcision in men reduces the risk of HIV infection.
