        <title>Influenza virus activity in the world</title>
        <description>Based on FluNet reporting &lt;i&gt;(as of 22 May 2012, 13:00 UTC)&lt;/i&gt;, during weeks 18 to 19 (29 April 2012 to 12 May 2012), National Influenza Centres (NICs) and other national influenza laboratories from 83 countries, areas or territories reported data. The WHO GISRS laboratories tested more than 26 758 specimens. 3 540 were positive for influenza viruses, of which 2 366 (66.8%) were typed as influenza A and 1 174 (33.2%) as influenza B. Of the sub-typed influenza A viruses, 190 (10.1%) were influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and 1 691 (89.9%) were influenza A(H3N2). Of the characterized B viruses, 45 (67.2%) belong to the B-Yamagata lineage and 22 (32.8%) to the B-Victoria lineage.</description>

        <description>Based on FluNet &lt;i&gt;(as of 7 May 2012, 10:00 UTC)&lt;/i&gt;, during weeks 16 to 17 (15 April 2012 to 28 April 2012), National Influenza Centres (NICs) and other national influenza laboratories from 83 countries, areas or territories reported data. The WHO GISRS laboratories tested more than 30 585 specimens. 5 297 were positive for influenza viruses, of which 3 343 (63.1%) were typed as influenza A  and  
1 954 (36.9%) as influenza B. Of the subtyped influenza A viruses, 308 (13.4%) were influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and 1 982 (86.6%) were influenza A(H3N2). Of the characterized B viruses, 85 (37.6%) belonged to the B-Yamagata lineage and 141 (62.4%) to the B-Victoria lineage.

        <description>Based on FluNet reporting &lt;i&gt;(as of 24 April 2012, 12:40 UTC)&lt;/i&gt;, during weeks 14 to 15 (01 April 2012 to 14 April 2012), National Influenza Centres (NICs) and other national influenza laboratories from 78 countries, areas or territories reported data. The WHO GISRS laboratories tested more than 28664 specimens. 6096 were positive for influenza viruses, of which 4477 (73.4%) were typed as influenza A and 1619 (26.6%) as influenza B. Of the sub-typed influenza A viruses, 569 (18.6%) were influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and 2481 (81.3%) were influenza A(H3N2). Of the characterized B viruses, 197 (69.4%) belong to the B-Yamagata lineage and 87 (30.6%) to the B-Victoria lineage. </description>

        <description>Based on FluNet reporting (as of 12 April 2012, 6.15 UTC) during weeks 12 to 13 (18/03/2012 to 31/03/2012), National Influenza Centres (NICs) and other national influenza laboratories from 80 countries, areas or territories reported data. The WHO GISRS laboratories tested more than 36 319 specimens. 9 814 were positive for influenza viruses, of which 7 575 (77.2%) were typed as influenza A and 2 239 (22.8%) as influenza B. Of the sub-typed influenza A viruses, 754 (16.2%) were influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and 3 907 (83.8%) were influenza A(H3N2). Of the characterized B viruses, 364 (57.1%) belong to the B-Yamagata lineage and 273 (42.9%) to the B-Victoria lineage.</description>

        <description>Based on FluNet reporting &lt;i&gt;(as of 27 March 2012, 14:00 UTC)&lt;/i&gt; during weeks 10 to 11 (4 March 2012 to 17 March 2012), National Influenza Centres (NICs) and other national influenza laboratories from 88 countries, areas or territories reported data. The WHO GISRS laboratories tested more than 50,919 specimens. 15,214 were positive for influenza viruses, of which 11,559 (76%) were typed as influenza A and 3,655 (24%) as influenza B. Of the sub-typed influenza A viruses, 957 (15%) were influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and 5,351 (85%) were influenza A(H3N2). Of the characterized B viruses, 420 (45%) belong to the B-Yamagata lineage and 509 (55%) to the B-Victoria lineage.</description>
