Outbreak investigation and response
Foodborne outbreaks of international public health significance are identified through WHO's Alert and Response Operations Team through notification through members of the Global Foodborne Infections Network (GFN) and other networks such as EnterNet. In these instances, WHO may facilitate the exchange of information between Member States.
Skills enhancement for outbreak investigation is a key component of the Global Foodborne Infections Network curriculum. An outbreak investigation manual is being drafted to serve as a companion document for the Global Foodborne Infections Network and as a stand alone WHO guideline.
