Explanation of the evaluation summary database
The database of evaluation summaries is a compendium of summaries of all the evaluations of food additives, contaminants, toxicants and veterinary drugs residues that JECFA has reviewed. The database allows searches for specific compounds, as well as searches by functional class. Each summary contains basic chemical information, ADIs, a history of JECFA evaluations and references to the most recent WHO Technical Report Series (TRS) and WHO Food Additive Series (FAS).
The following entry for Zinc is a sample evaluation summary. The highlighted sections are the references for the most recent TRS report and FAS toxicological monograph. The sample is followed by an explanation of the abbreviation system employed by the summaries.
