TEFs for polybrominated dioxins and -furans and -biphenyls (PBDDs, PBDFs, PBBs)

One of the recommendations of the 2005 meeting was to expand the TEF concept to other dioxin-like compounds of relevance for human exposure, specifically polybrominated dioxins and -furans and -biphenyls. In 2011 UNEP and WHO jointly organized an expert consultation to evaluate the dioxin-like properties of PBDDs and PBDFs and to assess the possible derivation of TEF values. A detailed review is being prepared and the draft document will be made available for public comments before TEF values for these compounds are proposed.
