Gabriel Adegoke

Gabriel Olaniran Adegoke is a Professor of Food Safety and Food Microbiology at the Department of Food Technology, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. Prof Adegoke is a member of Nigeria's Codex Technical Committee and a member of Codex Alimentarius Commission's Expert Advisory Body, JECFA, on risk assessment of chemical substances in foods. Professor Adegoke has been appointed as a Consultant on the Development of Food Safety Structures in Nigeria.

Professor Adegoke was invited as a Consultant by the World Health Organization in 1996, 1999, 2002 and 2007 on issues relating to Healthy Food Market, acrylamide and Foodborne Disease Burden Epidemiology Reference Group (FERG). Prof Adegoke was on the Mission Team of the World Health Organization that introduced the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system to Nigeria in 1996. Professor Adegoke, a recipient of several international fellowships and scholarships (CIDA/NSERC, Canada; NU, Tokyo; DAAD, Germany; Finnish Academia, Finland; ABOS, Belgium etc.) received his PhD in 1984 from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Professor Adegoke is a member of Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology and is currently the Head, Department of Food Technology, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.
