Dr Aamir Fazil

Aamir Fazil has Engineering degrees from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and has been working in food and water microbial risk assessment since 1994. His engineering and risk assessment background has provided a unique perspective on the application of the decision sciences in the health arena. Dr Fazil has participated in several international expert consultations organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). He was a primary contributor to WHO/FAO risk assessments for: Salmonella spp in broilers; Salmonella spp in eggs; and C. jejuni in broilers. He has also been involved as an expert in the preparation of international guidance documents for approaches to conducting microbial risk assessments. Dr Fazil has conducted training on microbial risk assessment internationally, and served as a technical reviewer for numerous international risk assessments.
