Xiumei Liu

She graduated from Shanghai Medical University, China in 1976. Her experience is in foodborne diseases research and control, especially responsible for the National Surveillance Network of Foodborne Diseases in China, microbiological risk assessment on microbial hazards in food, and leading the work for revising of the serials National Standards on Food Hygiene Microbiology.

She has awarded the Honors for National Award for Science and Technology Achievement issued by Ministry of Science and Technology in 1997, the Award for Medical Science Achievement by the Ministry of Health in 1996, and the Awards for Chinese Medical Science and Technology in 2003 and 2006.

She is currently serviced as the Chair of the Committee on Microbial Toxins, Chinese Society of Microbiology, Chair of the Committee on Hygiene Analysis, Chinese Preventive Medicine Associate, the vice director of Chinese Institute of Science and Technology, and an expert for Beijing Olympic Food Safety Expert Committee. She is also the member of International Commission of Microbiological Specializations on Foods (ICMSF) and the Chair of the ICMSF Northeast & China Sub-Commission, the Director on the Board of AOAC INTERNATIONAL and an expert of Joint FAO/WHO Expert Consultation on Risk Assessment of Microbiological Hazards in Food (JEMRA).
