GARD organized from 23 - 24 March 2007 in Zakopane, Poland, a symposium for Eastern European countries. The symposium involved key experts in the field of chronic respiratory diseases in Eastern European countries and is organized in collaboration with the Polish National Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases.
WHO organized from 28 February - 1 March 2007 in San Diego, USA, a workshop on InterAirways. InterAirways is a new initiative which examines the interaction between the upper and lower airways.
GARD Planning Group meets
Prior to the AAAAI Annual Meeting in San Diego, USA, GARD Planning Group met on 27 February 2007 to prepare the 2007 General Meeting which will take place on 1-2 June in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Georgia begins GARD pilot project on surveillance of chronic respiratory diseases at primary health care level.
New updated GOLD Guidelines on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD) were presented in a GOLD symposium on November 20, 2006 during the meeting of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology in Kyoto, Japan.
