Unregistered births, unexercised rights

Health in Ukraine
WHO/Ivan Chernichkin

The births of tens of millions of children are not registered every year, and it is estimated that two-thirds of deaths are never registered and thus not counted in the vital statistics system. Civil registration provides individuals with documentary evidence of their legal identity, which helps protect their human rights and enables them to access essential services. 1
