Gender equality, women and health: implications for actions

Discussion paper for further consultation and inputs

In this discussion paper, GWH proposes a framework for improving women's health grounded in gender equality and women's empowerment. It proposes four pillars - gender equality, human rights, a life-course approach and engagement of men as partners.

The pillars are based on principles articulated in international frameworks, in particular the Beijing Platform for Action, the Cairo Conference, CEDAW and the Millennium Development Goals. GWH prepares to undertake policy dialogues with partners to improve women's health over the coming months. Hence, this document is open for dialogue as well; we look forward to your comments and inputs.
