Funding
The current forecasted budget for WHO's work on gender, women and health at Headquarters in 2010-2011 is US$ 5.3 million. Current contributors and partners of GWH include German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), Government of Spain, Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), Ministerial Leadership Initiative (MLI), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Challenges
The funding gap forecasted for 2010-2011 is US$ 2.0 million or 38%, broken down as follows:
- Accelerate progress in the implementation of the WHO Gender Strategy and WHO resolution WHA60.25 in WHO and in countries - US$ 1.34 million.
- Provide technical leadership to advance the knowledge and the application of norms and standards - US$ 428 000.
- Define a strategic focus and agenda for improving women’s health in collaboration with a range of stakeholders and partners - US$ 265 000.
