Situation and trends

Recorded adult per capita consumption is the adult (15 years and older) per capita amount of alcohol consumed in litres of pure alcohol in a country in a calendar year. Worldwide, recorded adult per capita consumption has remained stable at around 4.3–4.7 litres of pure alcohol since 1990. Generally, with increasing income, alcohol use increases and the proportion of unrecorded alcohol consumption decreases.
