Patterns of drinking score

Situation and trends

This composite measure of drinking patterns reflects how people drink instead of how much they drink, on a scale of 1 (least risky pattern of drinking) to 5 (most risky pattern of drinking). Attributes used to create this indicator include quantity of alcohol consumed per occasion, festive drinking, the proportion of drinking events when getting drunk, the proportion of drinkers who drink daily, drinking with meals, and drinking in public places. Most risky patterns of drinking are found in Kazakhstan, Mexico, the Russian Federation, South Africa and Ukraine.
