Cholera
Epidemics of cholera: Globally, cholera incidence has increased steadily since the beginning of the millenium with cholera outbreaks persisting in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Cholera continues to pose a serious public health problem among developing world populations which have no access to adequate water and sanitation resources. In 2010, 36% of cases were reporte dfrom Africa whereas between 2001 and 2009, 93% to 98% of total cases worldwide were reported from that continent. Such a low proportion of cases in Africa had previously been reported in 1995 when the current pandemic affected Central Ameria and South America.
