Global influenza virological surveillance
WHO Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS): The network was established in 1952. Since then laboratories world-wide collaborate and monitor influenza viruses through GISRS. So far the Network comprises 138 National Influenza Centres, 6 WHO Collaborating Centres, 4 Essential Regulatory Laboratories and other ad-hoc groups. Laboratory confirmed surveillance information is available real time publicly through FluNet, the web-based database and reporting system since 1996.
