Worldwide, syphilis is a highly prevalent infection among men who have sex with men (MSM). There have been reports from some countries of increasing trends. Untreated syphilis can lead to serious complications in 25% of infected individuals. The complications can be severe and even life-threatening, and increase risk of HIV acquisition and transmission.
