Beds for the treatment of alcohol and drug use disorders

Situation

The median number of beds for the treatment of alcohol and drug use disorders in the world was 1.7 per 100 000 population in 2008. The lowest median number of beds for the treatment of alcohol and drug use disorders were reported from the African Region (0.2 per 100 000 population) and from the Eastern Mediterranean Region (0.6 per 100 000 population). The highest median number of beds for the treatment of alcohol and drug use disorders was reported from countries in the European Region (10.3 beds per 100 000 population).
