Situation in 2014
A key intervention for reducing the burden of HIV-associated TB is HIV testing for TB patients. Globally, 51% of notified TB patients had a documented HIV test result in 2014.
The most important intervention to reduce mortality among HIV-positive TB patients is antiretroviral therapy (ART). In 2014, 77% of TB patients who were known to be co-infected with HIV were on ART.
