As part of the Global Coordination Mechanism on the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (GCM/NCD) mandate to facilitate and enhance the coordination of activities, multi-stakeholder engagement and action across sectors in order to contribute to the implementation of the WHO global action plan for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases 2013–2020, the GCM/NCD is tasked to develop and implement the necessary infrastructure to disseminate knowledge and information and engage partners in the work on NCDs.
One of the objectives under the GCM/NCD work plan is on ‘knowledge sharing and networking’. The dissemination and sharing of knowledge and information based on scientific evidence/or best practices regarding implementation of the global action plan for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases is done through the use of webinars, Communities of Practice, knowledge repositories and online presence through the GCM/NCD website and GCM/NCD portal.
The GCM/NCD invites external partners to present work relevant to NCDs and the terms of reference of the GCM/NCD. The authors alone are responsible for the views and information expressed in their presentations and they do not necessarily represent the decisions, policy or views of the World Health Organization or of the institutions with which they are affiliated.
