Italy's strategy for a national eHealth architecture was published in 2006. It sets out a plan to improve interoperability and flow of information within the health care system by creating an integrated eHealth infrastructure. The proposed system design will ensure nationwide access to clinical information, and addresses issues of security and privacy, standards adoption and integration with existing systems.
