Developed under the leadership of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), this plan builds on the previous Federal Health IT Strategic Plan, published in 2008. It promotes the uptake and meaningful use of information technologies across all healthcare sectors. Other strategic goals include: improving population health while reducing healthcare costs; promoting public trust and confidence in health information technologies; empowering individual consumers to use health information technologies; and enabling technological innovation.
