WHO Report on the burden of endemic health care-associated infection worldwide
A new comprehensive WHO Report on the burden of endemic health care-associated infection worldwide released on 5 May 2011, highlights the importance of health care-associated infection in different settings and related risk factors, describes advantages and challenges of surveillance, reports available data on health care-associated infection endemic burden and its impact in high-, middle- and low-income countries, and finally points out lessons learned and future perspectives.
WHO Hand Hygiene Self-Assessment Framework
In total, the WHO Hand Hygiene Self-Assessment Framework has been downloaded over 33 000 times since issued on 5 May 2010, in support of achieving hand hygiene sustainability. This includes increasing download numbers of the French and Spanish translated versions.

Hand Hygiene Moment 1 - Global Observation Survey Summary Report
All health-care facilities registered for the WHO SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands annual campaign were invited to participate in a global survey on or around 5 May 2010 by observing hand hygiene compliance with Moment 1 (before touching a patient). Following collation and analysis of submitted data, results for the overall compliance with Moment 1 by WHO regions and by professions can now be viewed.
