Zimbabwe Measles Immunization and Child Health Days campaign 2010

24 May to 2 June 2010

Between 24 May and 2 June, WHO and other humanitarian health partners helped Zimbabwe’s Ministry of public Health and Child Welfare immunize more than 5 million children against measles. Responding to an outbreak that had caused 517 deaths since September 2009, the nationwide measles vaccination campaign succeeded thanks to strong coordination among Health Cluster partners and other stakeholders and systematic dialogue with communities, including religious and cultural objectors.
