Humanitarian Health Action

The occupied Palestinian territory

The occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) is facing a three layered humanitarian crisis: five consecutive years of Intifada, the financial crisis of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the escalation of the security and humanitarian situation – especially in Gaza – are precipitating a further deterioration of the health crisis.

As MoH facilities provide more than 60% of health services, problems within the MoH, around which all other health actors revolve, affect the entire health system. This may increase the risk of avoidable morbidity and mortality especially from non-communicable diseases.
