CAP and Other Appeals for 2007
WHO appeals for USD 76 million* to support countries in crisis in 2007
Within the framework of the Consolidated Appeals Process 2007, WHO appeals for USD 76 million* to respond to the health aspects of humanitarian emergencies in 2007.
WHO's support will focus on Burundi, the Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Great Lakes region, the occupied Palestinian territory, the Republic of the Congo, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, the West African region and Zimbabwe.
Priorities include:
- Improving access to essential health care for vulnerable people
- Strengthening coordination among health partners
- Establishing and strengthening disease surveillance, early warning and response systems
- Supporting systems to reduce maternal, infant and under-five mortality and morbidity
- Strengthening health and socio-psychological support to victims of violence
*At the time of writing, total requirements for the DRC as well as for Sudan were not yet available. They will be added to the total amount requested as soon as the data are available.
