Humanitarian Health Action

Global Health Cluster meeting of partners, Geneva, 21–23 March 2011

The meeting aimed to assess recommendations from the field, build a common understanding among partners on issues and challenges related to the Global Cluster and establish priority areas of work for 2011. The meeting brought together representatives from 28 partner organizations, five health cluster coordinators from countries in crisis, as well as WHO regional and headquarters technical staff.

The priorities for 2011 aim to provide and improve support to the health response at country level – focusing initially on the provision of specialized surge capacity for the core functions of the Health Cluster response to sudden emergencies.

The recommendations and plan of action reflect the IASC Principals new business model for humanitarian action and build upon the work and recommendations of the Cluster Approach Phase II Evaluation issued in 2010.
