The GHC Policy and Strategy Team Meeting

The IASC GHC Policy and Strategy Team comprises representatives of the GHC with specific experience in policy and strategy development.

The GHC Policy and Strategy Team met 10-11 February, 2010, in Geneva to finalize the first GHC position paper on User Fees, to discuss the way forward for the piloting of the GHC developed tools at country level and to jump start work on the position paper on Civil/Military Coordination.

The position papers developed by the policy and strategy team aim to provide guidance to policy makers and other health actors in humanitarian crises. The position paper on User Fees has been an ongoing project for the Policy and Strategy team since the GHC meeting in June 2009. The position paper will be translated and available in both English and French on the GHC website. The next position paper treats civil/military collaboration and will be finalized in time of the GHC meeting in June, 2010.

The Team also made progress on the development of a financial strategy and mapping the cost for the health cluster at country and global level. The Team aims to develop guidelines on co-stewardship at country and sub-national level - an issue that has become increasingly important as, more often, partners are co-chairing in both protracted and acute emergencies.
