Emergency Health Library Kit
The Department of Health Action in Crises (HAC) will provide upon request an Emergency Library Kit (ELK) to agencies working in the field during an emergency. The Kit contains essential documents related to public health in emergencies and it is intended to provide technical guidance to agencies operating in the field.
One of HAC’s strategic goals is to facilitate dialogue between national and international actors on the basis of WHO and/or internationally accepted guidelines. We, therefore, trust that the ELK will enhance coherence among agencies and countries to tackle public health aspects of emergencies.
Each Kit comes in a metal trunk, which can be used as a bookshelf. It contains 130 documents: guidelines and reference manuals produced by WHO, other UN organizations, and external publishers.
A summary of the contents of ELK with detailed information is also available on this website (see: Emergency Library Kit – Contents). The contents of the Kit are regularly updated. The cost of each Kit amounts to approximately USD 2,300. Transportation costs are not included here as they depend on the intended destination.
