In press release of The Lancet medical journal, the Minister of Health of Ethiopia calls for country ownership of development in order to reach the MDGs. Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says that a percentage of grants for AIDS, malaria and TB "have been used to build system capacities in many areas including an information system for health management…" Ethiopia has used the HMN Framework to plot its health information system strategy. HMN provided extensive technical support to Ethiopia to win a grant from The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and TB. One of HMN's key values is country ownership and it warmly congratulates Ethiopia on the action taken and progress made thus far.
