Shanghai Declaration on promoting health in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The outcome of the Ninth Global Conference on Health Promotion (Shanghai, 21 to 24 November 2016), which is jointly organized by the Government of China and WHO, under the auspices of a Scientific Advisory Group and Conference Organizing Committee, is a concise Shanghai Declaration on Health Promotion which is endorsed by the participants of the Conference.
The Shanghai Declaration
The process which the Secretariat followed to develop the Shanghai Declaration on Health Promotion was as follows:
- 20 May 2016: The Secretariat published the WHO Discussion Paper containing a zero draft of the Shanghai Declaration on Health Promotion for a web-based consultation until 15 October 2016 (see below).
- 15-31 October 2016: The Secretariat and the Scientific Advisory Group developed a final draft of the Shanghai Declaration on Health Promotion, taking into account all feedback received.
- 1 November 2016: The Secretariat shared a final draft Shanghai Declaration on Health Promotion with registered participants planning to attend the Conference.
- 21 November 2016: Participants attending the Conference will be invited to adopt the Shanghai Declaration during the gavel moment on Monday 21 November 2016 at 14:30.
