WHO Global hepatitis report, 2017

The WHO Global hepatitis report describes, for the first time, the global and regional estimates on viral hepatitis in 2015, setting the baseline for tracking progress in implementing the new Global Health Sector Strategy (GHSS) on viral hepatitis 2016–2021.

Guidelines on hepatitis B and C testing

These are the first WHO guidelines on testing for chronic hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) infection. Testing and diagnosis of HBV and HCV infection is the gateway for access to both prevention and treatment services, and is a crucial component of an effective response to the hepatitis epidemic.

Global health sector strategy on viral hepatitis 2016-2021

This is the first global health sector strategy on viral hepatitis. It covers the first six years of the post-2015 health agenda, 2016–2021, and addresses all five hepatitis viruses (hepatitis A, B, C, D and E), with a particular focus on hepatitis B and C, owing to the relative public health burden they represent.

Guidelines for the screening, care and treatment of persons with chronic hepatitis C infection

Updated version, April 2016 – Since its first-ever recommendations on the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in 2014, WHO is issuing updated treatment guidelines to promote the transition to newer, more effective medicines that have the potential to cure most persons living with hepatitis C infection.

Monitoring and evaluation for viral hepatitis B and C: recommended indicators and framework

To monitor and evaluate the Global Health Sector Strategy on viral hepatitis, WHO proposes a monitoring and evaluation framework. This framework should facilitate collection and analysis of standardized data with a balance between the need to remain parsimonious and obtain the minimum information required.

Manual for the development and assessment of national viral hepatitis plans: a provisional document

This manual provides guidance to public health professionals tasked with managing a response to viral hepatitis. As every country’s needs are different with respect to its epidemiology and the current level of response, people would use this manual in different ways.

Guidelines for the prevention, care and treatment of persons with chronic hepatitis B infection

These are the first World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for the prevention, care and treatment of persons living with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) infection, and complement similar recently published guidance by WHO on the prevention, care and treatment of infection due to the hepatitis C virus (HCV).

Waterborne Outbreaks of Hepatitis E: recognition, investigation and control

This manual aims to provide information about the methods for investigating outbreaks of hepatitis E, and measures for their prevention and control.
