Summary
An HIA of proposed agricultural and food policies was carried out prior to the accession of Slovenia to the European Union. This was the first time that the health effects of an agricultural policy were assessed at the country level. The HIA followed a six-stage process: policy analysis, rapid appraisal workshops with stakeholders, review of evidence, analysis of data for health-related indicators, reporting of findings to a cross-governmental group and evaluation.
