Venomous spiders such as Latrodectus mactans (black widow spider) were detected on bunches of table grapes imported into New Zealand. The objective of the HIA was to evaluate the public health risk associated with the importation of such products. The report includes a risk assessment (identifying the hazard, identifying the health effects of the hazard and assessing the risk of human exposure to the hazard), a discussion of risk communication, as well as options for risk management.
