As part of the Mayor's responsibilities he has a statutory responsibility to develop 8 strategies for London. These are Transport, Economic Development, Air Quality, Bio-diversity, Ambient Noise, Waste, Culture and Spatial Development. The Mayor has added a ninth strategy on Energy The Greater London Assembly has a scrutiny role to ensure that all these themes are embedded in the Mayoral strategies. The London Health Commission in partnership with the Environment Committee of the Greater London Assembly have committed to completing Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) on all the Mayoral strategies and the Mayor has committed to incorporating the recommendations from the HIA before the document goes out for public consultation.
