Summary
The Institute of Public Health in Ireland has been promoting and supporting HIA for over ten years. On its comprehensive web site, a Forum provides an opportunity for those with an interest in HIA to meet, share experiences, hear about new developments and consider progress. A Network group, a newsletter and a range of training courses are also available, as well as HIA resources (detailed practical guidance) and a list of completed HIAs.
The policy section contains several reports published in the 2001-2002 period, which are still valid as the foundation documents for HIA in Ireland. Among these, "Health Impact Assessment: an introductory paper" presents the Institute of Public Health’s approach and provides a documented overview of the multi-method and interdisciplinary nature of HIA.
