Summary
Poland
Poland was one of five countries involved in the WHO/DEPA project that supported the implementation of National Environmental Health Action Plans (NEHAPs). The WHO/DEPA project assisted in capacity building and in the development of a critical mass of environmental health experts, according to the priorities of the environment and health process in Europe.
The national report on the implementation of the NEHAP shows that it is part of a more general Environment and Health process, influenced by WHO and the European Union, that has had a considerable impact on Polish environmental health policy. This is reflected by the incorporation of major international recommendations and obligations in the field of environment and health into national policy, including the allocation of resources for tasks resulting from international obligations.
