Summary
Thailand - 2003
In this contribution to the WHO Bulletin, three experts explain how they have promoted the dual concepts of healthy public policy and HIA in Thailand over recent years. They explain that the integration of different perspectives of HIA as well as the integration of scientific and local evidence still require further development in their country.
Investment in databases and information systems, as well as the effectiveness of influencing public policy processes, are highlighted as sectors where improvement remains necessary.
The experts point out that the key of successful HIA development is the involvement of all stakeholders from the initiation process, i.e. government sectors, as well as the academic community and civil society.
