Summary
United Kingdom - 2002
In London, the Mayor is responsible for producing a set of strategies covering transport, economic development, buildings, land use, the environment, as well as energy and culture. All these strategies must take into account sustainable development, health and equalities. They must also work together and minimize conflict.
The draft Ambient Noise Strategy for London was the first city-wide noise strategy in the United Kingdom. The HIA of this Strategy was built on a workshop attended by 30 people, who were then subdivided into groups tackling aspects such as the health sector, the education sector, mental health, transport, mixed-use residential areas and the entertainment industry.
The recommendations include specific actions, linked to policies or proposals that exist in the draft Ambiant Noise Strategy. Summaries of evidence for each of the recommandations are presented in boxes at the end of each sections.
