Alconbury airfield health impact assessment
Resource/Evaluation type
Completed health impact assessment
Subject area
Transport
Summary
England - February 2002
The proposed Alconbury airfield development is for a road and rail freight distribution centre, one of the largest in Europe, which may take from 5 to 25 years to complete. Initial screening for potential health impacts identified both positive and negative consequences for human health and well-being, within the population of interest. For the purposes of this report the population of interest, for most of the possible negative impacts arising from the use of the site, was defined as those people living within the Stukeleys ward (population 4270) which surrounds the proposed development. Clearly a wider population is also considered for other impacts on the road network and the environment. The purpose of the study is to “identify positive and negative health impacts of the development within the resources available to the group, and produce a report to form the basis of the Health Authority submission at the public enquiry".
