HIV/AIDS

AMDS partners and stakeholders meeting

(12-13 December 2007)

Background:

Strengthening procurement and supply management (PSM) of AIDS medicines and diagnostics in developing countries requires effective partnership at global, regional and country levels. The AMD network has been established for this purpose. AMDS partners meet regularly to exchange PSM experience and to identify PSM priority areas on which effective collaboration is engaged. Since WHO/AMDS and partner organizations had the last AMDS Partner meetings in May 2006, significant progress has been made in various PSM projects including Global Price Reporting Mechanism, Forecasting of global ARVs consumption, PSM toolbox, Handbook of supply management, ART-PSM monitoring and evaluation, PSM capacity building and training workshops, etc.

Objectives:

  • To take stock of current joint priority projects (progress and achievements) and agree on future PSM priorities for collaboration within the AMD network.
  • To agree on next steps, timeline and involved partners for the implementation of the current PSM priorities to be continued or newly identified PSM priorities for future collaboration within the AMD network.
  • To follow up on specific technical joint products and operations agreements reached under objective 2 above.
