1 February 2010 -- Injecting drug use is the primary route of HIV transmission in eastern Europe and central Asia. While HIV prevention coverage for injecting drug users remains low in the region, the WHO supported Knowledge Hubs represent progress in the expansion of harm reduction services.

Towards universal access by 2010: African experiences consists of five photo stories. Each story presents a piece of reality of how patients, health workers, and decision-makers in countries are tackling some of the outstanding priorities of HIV/AIDS. These stories bring to life many challenges that exist within health sectors in countries and which will need to be addressed as the international community moves towards universal access to HIV services by 2010.
