A Community Health Approach to Palliative Care for HIV/AIDS and Cancer Patients in Sub-Saharan Africa
"A Community Health Approach to Palliative Care for HIV/AIDS and Cancer Patients in Sub-Saharan Africa" is a joint project among five countries - Botswana, Ethiopia, UnitedRepublic of Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe - and the World Health Organization (country, regional and headquarters offices). The main goal of this project is to improve the quality of life of HIV/AIDS and cancer patients in sub-Saharan Africa by developing comprehensive palliative care programmes with a community health approach. The governments of Botswana, Ethiopia, United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe are actively participating in this important health initiative that, if effective, can serve as a model for other African countries.
