This Final Report of the WHO/Italian Initiative on HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa covers the period from 2001 to 2004, that is, the period in time from the project's first implementation activities to the final phases of the planned activities and interventions. The Report focuses on the success and achievements of the Initiative, the challenges faced by the Initiative, recommendations for both ongoing and future undertakings, and lastly provides summary financial information for the Initiative.
Recognizing that the acquired knowledge and experience presented in this Report should be shared beyond the borders of the Initiative, the Report serves also as a didactic tool. That is, while the Report provides the necessary financial and implementation information, it additionally uses this forum to present helpful information to those planning similar efforts and interventions in HIV/AIDS in Africa and elsewhere, offering tested guidance on the management and implementation of multi-partner service delivery projects.
