The systematic use of standardized and recently computerized casereport forms, the central international registry at WHO headquarters, and finally the use of a geographic information system (GIS) for mapping and monitoring co-infections have improved the overall quality of epidemiological data gathering, and as a result, have improved response capability.

This document presents a retrospective analysis of 965 cases from the 1440 cases officially reported to WHO.
