The MTCT team at WHO, either alone or in collaboration with other agencies, organizes a number of international meetings, capacity building workshops and forums to support the scale-up and implementation of PMTCT programmes in countries.

MTCT and ART guideline revisions 2009
In 2009, WHO revised the MTCT and ART guidelines and released information on the revision process, including timelines, areas for review, relevant outcomes, and ideal recommendations.

Regional PMTCT and Paediatric care and support scale-up workshops
Prevention of mother-to-child transmission programmes started with pilot sites in the early 1990s. Since, then pilot sites have scaled-up to become national programmes with the aim to provide services to a maximum number of women and children. WHO in collaboration with key agencies undertook a series regional scale-up meeting in the African region.

Strengthening regional and national capacity to accelerate scaling up of national PMTCT and paediatric HIV care
Scaling up PMTCT and paediatric HIV care programmes requires skilled human resources at national level. WHO in collaboration with key agencies undertook a regional training to form individuals in better responding to country scale-up technical assistance needs. This took place in Nairobi, Kenya in February 2007.
